Meadow Creek 7'3'' 4wt.
Cross Roads 7'6'' 4/5wt.
Black Dog 7'9'' 5wt.
My MC 734 is as easy going as the meandering creeks it haunts. It's my go-to
for alpine beaver dams and back water sloughs. Its 7' 3'' length allows for
easier back country adventures and packing. It has a nice full flex with a
medium action that easily handles dries, nymphs, or a brace of wets.
My CR 76 4/5 is a spring creek favorite. The selection process for this taper
started on Silver Creek, standing in the middle to two braided channels
fishing a blanket hatch of tricos. The ideal rod for the conditions would be a
powerful rod with a delicate presentation, one that mends well and has
ample backbone to bring large trout to net on light tippets. That's what the
Cross Roads delivers. I enjoy the CR 76 with a WF 4wt line. It has a crisp
medium fast action..
My Black Dog taper is the "all around five weight" that defines
versatility. It boast a smooth relaxed action that handles dries and
weighted nymph rigs equally well. The BD 795 has a true medium
speed that remains light in hand and a pleasure to fish.
